The passenger vessel named 1881 ATATÜRK, which is the third of the 15 carbon composite hulled catamarans ordered by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality to the Özata Shipyard located in the Yalova Altınova Shipyards Region, is entering the service of the people of Izmir before Eid al-Adha.

The 1881 ATATÜRK vessel and its sister vessels ÇAKABEY and DOKUZ EYLÜL, which were previously put into service, will be delivered to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality within the week, at the end of the 3-month period.

ECO-FRIENDLY VESSELS

Built with a highly advanced hull technology, which is also used in the space and aviation industry, 1881 ATATÜRK ensures that operating costs are minimized thanks to this hull, and offers its users advantages such as fuel savings and low maintenance and repair costs. On the other hand, the 1881 ATATÜRK vessel attracts attention with its extremely environmentally friendly features. The fact that the hull material does not harm the nature, consumes less fuel due to the need for low-power machinery and, as a result, produces a lower amount of exhaust gas emissions, is an indication of the environmental sensitivity in the production of the vessel. The vessel, where passenger comfort is prioritized, is planned to be an indispensable means of transportation for the social life of the people of Izmir, with its equipment for the use of disabled citizens.

PEOPLE of IZMIR ARE THANKFUL TO KOCAOĞLU

According to the impressions we gained in the interviews we conducted with the people of Izmir, there is no doubt that the great admiration and appreciation received from the people of Izmir by the vessels ÇAKABEY and DOKUZ EYLÜL, which have been delivered so far, will also be valid for the 1881 ATATÜRK vessel. It seems that the people of Izmir are grateful to Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu for these vessels, which compete with their counterparts manufactured in Europe in modernity and comfort.

SOMA DISASTER IS NOT FORGOTTEN

In addition to the 1881 ATATÜRK vessel that has just joined the fleet, the SOMA vessel, which is currently being prepared for delivery and will join the fleet in October, and intra-gulf passenger transportation, which is thought to be the most effective means of transportation in Izmir by the end of the year, will contribute to the development of modern Izmir with its fleet and service capacity that will grow in the coming years will play one of the key roles. These steps taken towards the creation of modern Izmir have earned Mayor Kocaoğlu the appreciation of the unbiased Izmir people.

Izmir’s new catamarans were among the projects that attracted the most attention at the SMM fair, which was held in Hamburg last month and is considered the largest maritime fair in the world. It is obvious that the vessels, which attract great attention abroad, should be evaluated soon by all public and private institutions and cooperatives engaged in passenger transportation in our country.
