A ceremony was held in the Shipyard Region in Altınova district of Yalova forthe delivery ofMirvari to the Azerbaijani Government. AK Party Yalova DeputyTemel Coşkun, Altınova Mayor Metin Oral, AK Party Provincial ChairmanMustafa Pehlivan, Özata Shipyard Chairman Özdemir Ataseven and Azeri AsiaShipping Chairman Elchin Khalilov attended the handover ceremony held atÖzata Shipyard.
Making the opening speech of the ceremony, Özata Shipyard ChairmanÖzdemir Ataseven said that they turned the eyes of the world maritimeindustry to Turkey with the business partnership established with AsiaDenizcilik. Stating that Turkish engineers and workers have been working for 1year for Mirvari, which will be the pearl of the Azerbaijani Government in theCaspian Sea, Ataseven stated that thevesselwill serve 650 passengers with aVIP restaurant and VIP passenger lounge.
Noting that he has been in the shipbuilding business for 38 years and that hehas also been a manager in professional chambers in the sector, Atasevenstated that the shipyards in Yalova have broken new ground in the sector bybuilding the largestvessels, including those in the Scandinavian countries.
Elchin Khalilov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asia Maritime, stated inhis speech that the business partnership of the two companies dates back 2years. Khalilov said, “We won the world’s largest composite tender by creatinga business partnership with Özata in 2011. This was a turning point for us. Withthe tender opened by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we completed the keelof the first of 15 carbon composite passengervessels of this size, which will bebuilt for the first time in the world, last month. “We introduced it to the publicat a ceremony. Mirvari will be the pride of Turkish engineers in the Caspian Sea.Both Azerbaijan and the Turkish government provided their support forthe construction of Mirvari. We thank you very much. Turkey is a safe haven forforeign investors,” he said.
The ceremony ended with an iftar dinner given to the guests who participatedin the program.
